I have been very remiss in sharing my writing and my thoughts over the last year. My pen hasn't stopped nor have my adventures. And for some reason, I just woke up with the urge to share this via blog post so here goes.
A beautiful part of a wedding is that everyone is different. If you are a planning your wedding remember that it is an expression of you. I can find beauty in just about anything, but beauty really shines through when a wedding honors the spirit of the new couple. Sure there are traditions and ideas about weddings, but why not be yourself? Your family might not have a choice but all of your friends are there because they like you for you. Weddings that do a good job of this no matter how big or small, how bohemian or extravagant, how long or short are always enjoyed by all.
I always feel so honored to be a part of such a special day. And I think part of what keeps me so intrigued and happy with wedding work is two-fold. One it is always nice to create something that will be cherished. And another is just what I've been talking about. The details are just so unique to everyone, and I love seeing how everything is expressed.
I recently shot a wedding that spanned an entire weekend at the Elk Cove Inn in Mendicino county and couldn't be happier with the results. It was a small event and everyone there meant so much to the couple. There were cookouts, yard games, great conversations, sunsets, bonfires, champagne breakfasts, beach explorations, silly antics, beautiful views, wonderful wine, great friends, a beautiful ceremony, dance parties, floating lanterns, and time for everyone to enjoy each other.
This is only a small fraction of the photos but I hope it tells the story well. Congratulations to two wonderful people and all of their special people who were a part of this weekend!
